Following Geroge Floyd's death, protests sprang up across the country. While the protests began peacefully, once night time came, they turned violent. Such riots occurred along the state line border of Illinois and Indiana. On Saturday, May 30th, Mayor of Hammond, Thomas McDermott, enacted an executive order after looting, vandalism, and unlawful activity took place in a nearby city.

As a result, a curfew was set in place at 9 PM for the city's residents. This curfew, while still in place, is slowly being lifted. It is said that this curfew will be lifted within the following days. Source
