Indiana Schools: Possible Delayed Re-Open

This update is over 30 days old.

As the 2020 school year approaches, very little has been heard from teachers on returning to schools. Recently, the Indiana chapter of the American Federation of Teachers said "schools should reopen for in-person instruction only if teachers and school staff are provided with adequate personal protective equipment, funding is provided for necessary safety resources, and community cases are under control." If those requirements are not met, the AFT said its union members would consider going on strike. Such actions are being considered due to limited facility space, lack of air conditioning, rising community cases and other issues. If strikes were to occur, the only alternative proposed is remote learning. of course, such measures may be an issue for those without the resources, but until then, we will keep our eyes and ears open.
